Disclaimer
Hi there, welcome to the blog. I feel some disclaimer is in order because I'm cautious like that.
This blog contains theological musings that may be uncomfortable for you if you are a Christian that does not often delve into the "odd" side of things. I am Christian too, but I give out this warning in order to avoid the sin of Luke 17:1-2, where Jesus says “Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin." (or "to stumble" in some translations). I hope my musings are interesting and helpful to people that muse similarly, and am not trying to create stumbling blocks for anyone. But I have a lot of questions, a great deal of them unresolved. I am attempting faith regardless, but with a pro-science bent. May God bless our dialogue, and may we bless each other in the process.
On the topic of Science, I am old-earth, big bang guy that has no special problem blending Genesis and Evolution. I find it very interesting that of all the old creation stories, it is in Genesis where first there is light, then earth & water, then fish, then birds, then mammals, then Man. On another note, a lot of religions propose there was no beginning, and at one time Science agreed with them. Now Science more closely agrees with Genesis. I believe it is easier to be Scientific and Christian today than it was a hundred years ago, and am a little mystified at all the bickering.
Politically I am currently center-right with occasional left and/or libertarian leanings. I am a white male Christian living in Oklahoma, which the media would tell you is all you need to know about me - but I voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 b/c I agreed with David Frum's argument that the first requirement for governing others is that you must first be able to govern yourself. That said, I always support and pray for whoever the current president is to the extent I can, and I will say that Donald Trump is actually doing a lot of good things that seem to go under-reported. In the end, I think most of our national political differences arise because the different states have legitimately different needs of their governments, with rural states needing a more "independent" mindset and urban states necessarily needing a more "interdependent" mindset. In that regard, I'm a fan of local government in general, and federal government in particular cases.
Happy reading :^)
